 Cribden Crafts Journey

Mindfulness in Motion

Recycling and Re-using, considering our impact upon the environment and how our environment impacts upon ourselves, are intrinsically intigrated into the crafting undertaken here in the studio at Cribden Crafts.

Craft is both an artform and an activity that brings daily joy and wellbeing enhanced by the environment here in the hills of Rossendale.

So how did Cribdencrafts come into being?

I'm a Yorkshire lass by birth, however 'The Valley of Rossendale' has been home for over 25 years. I am fortunate to live high in the hills with amazing views across The Valley.

I always had a love of designing and creating, spending countless hours in my father’s workshop as a youngster. I wanted to "Be a lady joiner" for as long as I remember, at that time "ladies" just didn’t do what was deemed a man's job! I did follow my dream to some extent gaining a Ba Hons in 3-Dimensional Design -Wood, Metal, Ceramics, and Glass at Manchester Polytechnic, I studied Ceramics at Alfred University, NY State USA followed wby a PGCE which took me into a career in teaching Technology - Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Electronics, 3D Art and KS3 Science (lasting over 35 years). As an Advance Skills Teacher I taught and supported many teachers throughout Rochdale and Lancashire.

Now into retirement (from teaching children) I am pursuing my love of crafting, sharing my designs and developing designs for others. I have been making/selling craft kits for adults and children since 2019. I also make bespoke products, one of my focuses is capturing memories and enabling people to say those things to loved ones and friends which so often go unspoken; the mindfullness that is often lost in the motion of life.

My love of sharing and inspiring others to take up crafting is now manifested in delivering workshops and enabling others to share their skills

I am always open to a design challenge, so if there is anything you see on here that you would like  to adapt to your own requirement, or any of your own ideas you'd like making please do contact me with your thoughts.

Cribden Crafts. What a gem.

My daughters bought me a voucher for my birthday and I used it to go on the Christmas candle workshop. Loved it. It was really enjoyable, learning about different waxes, fragrances, setting/ curing times and ratios of wax to fragrance. Lovely containers to fill after guidance all the way through the process. Great company in a lovely, peaceful surrounding in the beautiful Rossendale Valley.Looking to do some more workshops soon. Thank you so much

Fab workshop-fun and informative. Highly recommend.

Attentive, knowledgable Tutor, who shared tips and ideas on using Cyanotype. Time fly by and we experienced lots. Fun activity with some lovely keepsakes made to take away
