Fitting with the theme of Reusing, Recycling and using Local, Slate which although not quarried locally is widely available in the valley in the form of roof slates, used for centuries on the valley homes and factories, this forms the basis of our mosaic workshops.

Along with slate; pottery, glass, natural and manmade materials will be introduced.

· You will learn about :-

Health and safety handeling slate, ceramic and glass materials

• How to use a range of tools to prepare cut slate, glass and pottery safely

• A range of substrates which can be used and situations each is suited.

• The technique of fixing the mosaic to a substrate (base)

• Colouring "adhesive"

• Finishing and mounting your mosaic

 

All attendees will leave with a completed product and knowledge of how to replicate similar at home .
